Social running for all abilities.

Carleton Running Community was built on the basis of providing an environment where runners of all abilities can come together to enjoy their hobby in a relaxed atmosphere.

Our aim is to ‘Get Carleton Active’, but this purpose extends beyond the boundaries of Pontefract as an invitation to anyone who enjoys running within a group.

We are a community, established to provide a forum for those who want to commence their running journey but don’t believe they have the ability to do so, but also facilitate structured training for experienced runners looking to improve.

Whether you are a competent runner, or considering your first Couch To 5k programme, Carleton Running Community is an England Athletics affiliated club, that provides a fun, social, and inclusive environment where lasting friendships form.

Come and give it a try and join us every Tuesday and Thursday at The Carleton pub in Pontefract at 6.50pm for a 7.00pm start.

Not just a run club, but also a fun club.

Our running community like spending time with one another. We don’t just run and then that’s it until the next session. We are a social group too. We have fun sessions, organise our own events and team outings.

We have been out for meals and cinema trips, as well as the regular quiz that we often take part in at The Carleton on a Thursday after our run.

We are there for each other and have a friendly team culture amongst us.

Just because we have fun, it doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy race days.

We have fun as a group, but we also have many members in our community who like to challenge themselves in race events too, from 5km runs, through 10km events, all the way up to marathons, ultra-marathons, triathlons, and even Ironman competitions too.

We aren’t competitive against each other, but many of us are eager to improve our times and performances in timed events such as parkrun or in races. And the medals on race days are pretty cool too!

“I had never dreamed that I would call myself a runner, but with CRC this is what I’ve become, and I’m even enjoying it too!”
